Lecture One

I was invited to participate as a guest lecturer in the series of events entitled Trading Zones: Working with the Camera at the Interface of Art and Ethnography

In a three-hour session following the screening of the collective documentary film Profession: Documentarist, I spoke with Laura von Niederhäusern, Barbara Preisig, and Firouzeh Khosrovani about the relationship between private and public political spheres, poetry and documentation, and a feminist approach to the camera.

Lecture Two

During a three-hour session at the "Atelier Dok Special"—a workshop run by lecturer and filmmaker Sabine Gisiger where film students discuss their own documentary projects—I showed excerpts from my films and talked about my work as a documentary filmmaker based in Tehran. The discussion focused on why I started making documentaries, how I choose my subjects, the difficulties of making documentaries in Iran, and the documentary methods I use.
